Supplements: Yes or no?
The
use of supplements is widespread today, but we would
mention that, eating healthy food, we can find everythig that is useful
to our body.
Foods are composed of mixtures of substances that can promote or interfere
with the absorption of nutrients, without unbalancing the overall contribution:
for this, nutrient intake in pure form, in the form of pills, may interfere
and make imbalanced the correct intake of some nutrients.
Some sample: take, even for short periods, of 50 mg /
day of zinc interfere with the proper metabolism of iron and copper, while
calcium may interfere with the intake of iron and zinc.
In addition, foods contain antioxidants in different chemical forms, while
in the pills have a single chemical form, and this also causes imbalances.
The more healthy, balanced nutrients, therefore, are by far those that
the body receives from fresh food, and it is enough a varied and well
balanced diet to ensure all the vitamins and minerals we need.
Precious sources to intake these micro-nutrients are: fresh fruits and
vegetables, dried fruits, whole grains, fish, water.
